Wee Burn Country Club     -     Darien, Connecticut

Assistant Superintendent,  August 2011-Present

» Manage a 25 person multilingual crew that consisted of 13 fulltime, 5 part time and 7 turf educated
   graduates in all aspects of golf course maintenance while adhering to budgetary constraints.

» Worked closely with the superintendent to plan the 2012 budget and capital expenditures.

» Gained valuable skills at managing multiple facilities which include an additional beach club with
   tennis and swimming along with out of season demands of paddle tennis and the shooting club.

» Oversaw the construction of new practice facilities target greens and bunkers.

» Involved in the entire planning and installation of a state of the art, seven row, Rainbird irrigation
   system.  The system was designed by renowned architect, Mr. James Barrett and installed using
   a completely fused HDPE piping layout by Liebold Irrigation.

» Worked with the superintendent to plan and manage the construction of a new, state of the art
   pump station with advanced water treatment and fertigation capabilities.       

» Completed the certification for the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary program.

» Gained experience with establishing native grasses in challenging areas such as stream banks
   and tee slopes.

» Involved with the planning of fertilizer programs designed to create lean, healthy turfgrass for daily
   championship conditions.

» Created a highly advanced and cost effective IPM plan with an emphasis on nematode and Annua
   Bluegrass weevil control. 

Winged Foot Golf Club     -     Mamaroneck, New York

Assistant Superintendent,  May 2007 - August 2011

» Work closely with the Director of the Golf Course to manage a 45 person multilingual unionized
   crew and maintain 280 acres.

» Worked closely with the superintendent to plan a 3.7 million dollar budget and $600,000 in capitol
   expenditures, annual.

» Involved in the execution of golf course re-construction projects including; green expansions
   and surround re-grassing, tree removal and planting, tee construction, nursery construction,
   driving range construction.

» Oversaw the installation of XGD greens drainage on four push up Poa Annua greens.

» Assisted in revamping all cultural practices and operating procedures.

» Closely worked with the DEP, EPA and OSHA to meet all federal state laws or sanctions.

» Control and monitor preventive chemical applications.

» Meet monthly with the greens committee to obtain membership goals and expectations.

» Monitored golf course and clubhouse grounds daily to evaluate how well management standards
   are being achieved.

» Possess a working knowledge of Rainbird irrigation system, pHairway acid injection system and
   Syna Tek fertigation system.

» Oversaw the design and installation of a $500,000, Kelly-Ami drainage system that encompassed
   four fairways, rough and bunkers. 

 

» Responsible for the staffing of a 55 person crew on both the Highlands and the Hickory courses.

» Worked with the Pro Shop in order to exceed the needs of the members and guests.

» Involved with capitol equipment allocation and ordering.

» Gained experience with establishing native grasses in challenging areas such as stream banks and tee slopes.

» Programmed irrigation amounts and times using RainBird Cirrus central computers.

» Calibrated new fertigation system.

» Involved part in the planning of fertilizer and fungicide applications.

» Met and worked with the LPGA officials concerning course layout for HSBC Women’s world
   match play tournament.

» Monitored and controlled all water applications during the 2005 and 2006 HSBC Women’s World
   Match Play Championships.

» Advised tournament officials on locations to construct tournament infrastructure.

» Installed over 2,000 linear feet of fairway and rough drainage and catch basins.

» Obtained a New Jersey Pesticide license.

 

Student Intern,  Seasonal 2003 - 2004

» Applied pesticide and fertilizers to greens, tees, fairways and roughs.

» Inventoried and organized all pesticides, dry fertilizers and personal protection equipment.

» Directed the installation of a Herringbone style drainage system on the 14th approach of the Hickory course.

» Learned to operate medium sized golf course machinery.

Riviera Country Club     -     Pacific Palisades, California

Student Intern,  April 2001 - August 2001

» Assisted with the restoration of the 8th and 12th holes: the recapturing of the 8th fairway that
   was destroyed during a flood in the 1940’s; trenching, wiring and piping of the irrigation system;
   establishment of the roughs and fairways and expansions of the 8th and 12th greens.

» Applied pesticides and fertilizers to greens.

» Learned proper hand watering techniques for Poa annua in a Mediterranean climate.
